After consuming "leafy greens" on a daily basis for 6 weeks, by making quick and easy "green smoothies," I noticed a huge difference in my skin. My skin doesn't break out like it used to, and it now has a healthy glow. Green smoothies are leafy greens mixed with fruit smoothies, and the great part is that because you’ll be mixing the greens with fruit, you’ll only taste the fruit! This is one of the quickest, easiest, tastiest, most nutritious ways out there to get in your daily leafy greens.
If you’re suffering with acne, there’s a very good chance that the smoothies will greatly help (I believe this may be due to the high content of vitamin A, which is non-toxic and safe when you obtain it from food). They’ll make your skin look healthy, you’ll be getting tons of nutrition (blended greens give you 4 X the amount of nutrition compared to eating them, because the blender is able to more thoroughly break down all the cellular walls in order to release nutrients. So, drinking 1 cup of blended greens is like eating “FOUR” cups of greens!!), you may notice your appetite going down (because your body will be getting so much nutrition, it may stop craving other foods), you may find that you feel calmer and happier (greens are great for this), and a host of many more health benefits! For acne sufferers, to jumpstart the benefits, I recommend doing 6 – 8 cups a day for the first month and then going down to 4 cups (2 pints) a day for maintenance.
A blender - preferably a high-powered one, fruit, frozen fruit Optional (Frozen fruit is great for a flavor kick - especially frozen pineapple, and often, you can find certain frozen fruits, like strawberries, rapsberries, etc., cheaper than fresh. Whole Foods has a wonderful selection), leafy greens (For simplicity, I recommend getting a couple bags or containers of pre-washed lettuce. Baby romaine, baby spring mix, and baby spinach are all mild in flavor and great to start with.), flavoring Optional (cinnamon, honey, blueberry concentrate, etc), and water.
If you don’t like the noise of your blender (or if it’s over 90 decibels), you can use earplugs, ear protection from Hope Depot, or just figure out some way to cover your ears.
If you’re making them every other day (which is what I recommend for simplicity), follow below:
• Cut 2 pieces of fruit (apples, pears, bananas, plums, etc) into 8ths
• Throw in 2 large handfuls of greens
• Add about 1 cup of frozen fruit Optional (tropical fruit mix, pineapples, mangoes, raspberries, etc.) Whole Foods has a great selection.
• About 4 cups of water (Be sure to add enough so it’s drinkable).
• Add flavorings Optional (Cinnamon, honey, etc.)
• Blend ingredients
• Pour smoothie mixture into 2 tall glasses (not plastic!), cover with a saucer, and store in the refrigerator to drink the next day (lasts up to 24hrs).
• Pour the rest into glasses, rinse out the blender with water and let it air dry.
• You’re done! Enjoy your smoothie.
** Be sure to eat a variety of greens!! This is very important, because not all greens are alike, and they must be balanced! Also, some of you were getting confused about leafy greens being vegetables, like broccoli. Basically, if it's not a leaf, then it's not a leafy green.

Many people feel that their acne is overly embarrassing and unmanageable. I have read story after story of heartache, especially from teens that endure heartless bullying from schoolmates. There are so many different remedies and medications. What most people fail to realise is that each individual has a different biological makeup and what works for one person may not work for everyone. In some cases certain acne treatment can adversely affect already irritated skin. This further causes unnecessary embarrassment and frustration to an already uncomfortable situation. Propaganda fuels misconceptions about different so-called remedies and even causes. The idea that chocolate and oily food causes acne is unfounded. When in truth, makeup, unhealthy skin and even perspiration can cause acne. All of these factors affect the skin. But even your skin makeup can affect your skin and create back acne, scalp acne, large assesses or ingrown hair. There is an acne treatment questionnaire (just navigate to it on the right hand side) done by a company called SkinMed that will help to diagnose acne problems through a series of questions, and then it recommends the best acne treatment for each individual. Teen acne is typically the most difficult to diagnose because of hormonal considerations, but there is a special area meant just for teen acne that has a completely different set of rules when running the formula that determines the best medications or treatments. In some cases simple changes in hygiene and daily washing is all that it takes. The site also has a free offer on an acne facial cleanser that is made up of a three step process. The primary reason most teens, especially boys tend to have more problems with chronic acne is because of a lack of simply washing their face regularly. So this treatment is free and is a way to create a healthy daily routine, while gently healing the skin to prevent acne scarring brought on as a result of squeezing the sores. Once daily cleaning is practiced, and hormonal issues are taken into consideration, a proper treatment regiment can be highly effective. At the end of the day most acne, even teen acne , can be eliminated quickly and permanently with the right motivation. After all, we all want to be beautiful don’t we?
